Queer on Screen – Visual Representation in Film

On April 23 and 24, we will immerse ourselves in the world of authentic, visual queer representation in film. What does an art director take into account when designing a queer set? How do you translate queer culture authentically on screen? Which movies already do this well, and what can be improved?

On April 23, we will explore these questions through a panel discussion, featuring professionals from the industry as well as members of the community. Together, we will attempt to discover what the ideal visual representation can look like, why this isn’t always the standard and how we can make a difference ourselves. Tickets for the talk can be purchased here.

On April 24, we’ll move from conversation to experience with the screening of Queens of Drama (2024) by Alexis Langlois.

In short: an inspiring, educational, and inclusive program for everyone! Mark your calendar, and we hope to see you then at Villa Concordia!

About Queens of Drama

An outrageous lesbian pop musical satire inspired by the pop frenzy of the early 2000s, QUEENS OF DRAMA charts the rise and fall of new star Mimi Madamour and her passionate, rage-fueled love affair with punk icon Billie Kohler. Over the course of half a century we follow these drama queens as they top the charts and set sail on the course of mad queer love. Featuring an iconic cast, including Asia Argento and Alma Jodorowsky, and containing hit songs like ‘Don’t Touch’ by Yelle and ‘Fisted to the Heart’, this film vividly dissects the turbulence of toxic relationships—whether between fans and their idols or within passionate queer love affairs. Director Alexis Langlois brings their trademark glittercore pop-punk aesthetic to create a vibrant, unforgettable spectacle of music and passion.

This event takes place in at on tour location Villa Concordia.
